Happy & Healthy New Year to all.

As 2009 approaches, I am reminded of why I love all kinds of exercising - walking, lifting weights, yoga and more! Energy has all to do with oxygen and as we move our bodies we breathe so much more deeply. Exercising clears your head, focuses your thoughts and emotions and keeps you strong. Being a physically capable and strong woman in my fifties just feels good.

Women ask me questions such as "if I workout, am I going to have bulky muscles?"
Answer -- " BIG NO" Developing large and bulky muscles has all to do with genetics and not weight lifting -- so don't be afraid.

In January, I will launch a new educational workshop for women - a program that has been stirring around in my head for years - and now out there. Being a strong women is sexy... so fear not -- start lifting weights and enjoy the benefits!

Women benefit from strength training in so many ways: here are just a few.

Retard the loss of bone density
Reduce body fat and manage weight gain
Improved physical ability for daily activities of life
Improved posture and balance
Decreased blood pressure

The best thing of all: women who lift weights develop a greater sense of self-confidence and positive body image.

BASICS OF BODYWORK FOR WOMEN

In 2009, I will turn 54 years old. There is only one difference between my strength and energy now and when I was younger...I appreciate it more now.

I want to help woman understand and appreciate how valuable being a strong woman can be and how good it feels... Muscles are great to have, so if you are thinking of working out and do not know how or where to begin --- this is a great program for you. If you live or work in NJ call me and join us starting Jan 29th.
Call 973-761-5758 or email risa@risaolinskycom.

Cost $199 for the four week workshop. January 2nd there will be a sign up on my website for all.

Happy New year

Web MD Article has a home run on Weight Mangagement/Loss

Dear friends and clients:

Welcome back! I was so excited to see this wonderful article on WEB MD that I was finally motivated to write to you again.

Please, if you are interested in the topic: Why we gain weight, or rather, why we cannot lose weight? visit the link below.

Michelle May, MD is interviewed on her very special program - "Am I Hungry?" I have taken her course as a part of my continuing search to uncover valuable tools and information to share with my clients. It was wonderful and I highly recommend it to coaches, dietitians, MD's and more. If you counsel or coach your clients around the topic of food, eating and weight management please consider it.

Dr. May talks about "intuitive eaters" and why "if you think you are hungry and you are not - you are not going to find what you need in the refrigerator." Isn't this so true? So, hats off to http://www.amihungry.com/ for it's insight and innovative way of presenting this.

I myself, was a yo-you dieter in my late teen and adult years - it is not fun, nor is it healthy. In my twenties, I lost nearly 40 pounds, and have never put it back on.

Why? The answer: It is all lifestyle, intuitive eating, balance, staying physically active, understanding one's emotional make up and what makes you tick and eat. IF these are topics you would like to look explore, evaluate and you are ready to move toward a change and lose those extra few or more pounds, I passionately invite you to contact me for a complimentary coaching consultation.

Your life does not have to continue this way. If you visit my website and read a story about my work in Newsweek magazine, yhttp://services.newsweek.com/search.aspx?offset=0&pageSize=10&sortField=pubdatetime&sortDirection=descending&mode=summary&q=risa+olinskyou will learn about one of my clients who made these doable lifestyle changes and lost 35 lbs. without dieting!!! If you are on a diet to lose weight, you may and most likely at some point in the near future, when you go "off" the diet, you will gain it back.

This is the link to WEB MD - enjoy!

Risa Olinsky, M.A. Certified Wellness Coach

Dear Count on Yourself readers:
I would like to introduce myself to you and invite you to do the same.
I am a Licensed Certified Wellcoach with Wellcoaches, Inc and the ACSM. I have also been a certified personal trainer for over 25 years and a fitness director of NYC and NJ wellness programs. I hold a Masters degree from NYU in Adult Fitness Management and a BFA in Dance from the Tisch School of the Arts, also at NYU.

My dearest and greatest accomplishments in my life though are - that I am married to my wonderful husband for 24 years and have two beautiful and loving sons, ages 20 and almost 22. Why do I call this an accomplishment? In a world today where relationships are so often difficult and brief, I cherish mine. I work with women and men on success, health and wellness and how to balance what works in life with daily challenges - so I have to remind myself all the time that the whole thing takes work, TLC, flexibility and the desire to want it - it does not just happen. I make a daily effort to "walk the walk and talk the talk" but since I am human too, it is not always just right and I accept that in my clients as well. I have much to tell you, but will start with this - I have been through a lot in my 53 years giving me the wisdom and intuition, along with the training and skills to coach my clients on many levels and with many goals. I do not work at my coaching - my work is a way of life that I just happened to get paid for. Please visit my websites - http://www.risaclassiccoach.com/ - soon to be a Count on Yourself site instead - but for now it is as it is. My other site http://www.hwpn.org/ - is a professional organization that I am the founder and executive director of since 2004 - the Health & Wellness Professional Network. I look forward to hearing from you - I invite your questions on wellness, fitness, nutrition, stress and other topics of interest. Let's talk - about you. If you would like to be coached one-on-one please contact me. Wellness coaching is effective, exciting and focuses completely on your goals. The first session is always complimentary.
